We have moved in and out of rooms in the past two days. Kian went from the isolation room to the pod and now to a normal room in the ICU. The pod was not a good move for him, there are several patients in there and we felt like it wasn't the best place for Kian to be at this particular time. So after a few "complaints" to the ICU team, they agreed with us and moved Kian to a normal ICU room.
Kian's vent settings are the lowest they have been since his surgery and he continues to show improvement in his respiratory. The next hurdle that seems to be coming is Kian's saliva was tested and has shown the growth of a bacterial infection. The growth has come from his breathing tube. This is nothing serious at this point but it is just another hurdle that has presented itself to our fighter. Luckily we noticed signs before they took his saliva to be tested, so as a precaution, they began antibiotics right away. Hopefully this ends up being nothing major and that by finding it early we have prevented anything serious as a result of the bacterial growth.
wow. it's always something, isn't it? glad to hear that kian is in a 'normal' ICU room and that you detected the infection early on. praying that the antibiotics will do their job and this will just be a small bump in the road. praising God for the improvements in Kian's respiratory! sending love and hugs.
