Yesterday was supposed to be a quiet day for Kian. He was supposed to be able to rest and gain strength. Did that happen? Nope! Sometime in the afternoon Kian's IV that goes through his liver into his heart came loose. (Mind you this is the 2nd time this has happened). So back to the cath lab he went. He had to get another line placed because it is the only working line he has for all of his medications.
On the way to the cath lab to get the new line, his old line came out completely. He began to bleed and need a blood transfusion. In addition to that, he had no IV access. So if there would have been an emergency, he wouldn't be able to be given his life saving meds! As if that wasn't enough...The first IV that was placed went into the pericardium (sac around the heart). This isn't good. They had to put in a drain in case it began to bleed and watch Kian closely over night. Thank God there were no further complications from that! In the end, Kian did get a new IV put in.
Danielle, I can't tell you how much we all appreciate your posts. We are praying for Kian constantly and always asking God to keep you and Zach strong. Praying for a quiet day for Kian and his parents.
