Last Chest Tube is Out!!!

Kian had his chest tubes taken out a couple of weeks ago, then in Kian fashion, something that is uncommon happened.  One of Kian's chest tube rubbed against a small vein along his rib cage and started bleeding into his lung.  They had to put a chest tube back in under his right arm to help with the drainage.  The doctor told us he takes out a 1000 chest tubes a year and Kian and one other are the only ones to have this happened.  The incident hampered his respiratory progress for about a week, but he has fully recovered from that.

To be honest, this last chest tube could have come out last week.  But jokingly, the doctor said Kian was going to go to kindergarten with it because he has now officially scared this Cardiac ICU team.  So if you are keeping count, that is now 2 of the top Cardiac ICU centers in the nation that are afraid of our son, we are so proud!! But, Kian is doing well and we haven't seen any signs of setback from this last chest tube coming out.  Keep your fingers crossed and praying that something uncommon doesn't happen with this again.  But right now we are thankful that he is doing well and we continue to be amazed by the strength of our little fighter!!
